This is a charming way for your little ones to turn an ordinary snack into an elegant affair. The Fisher-Price Musical Tea Set comes with lacy placemats, sandwich cut-outs, and cute place cards. This play accessory includes cups and saucers numbering four, spoons, a sugar bowl with a lid, and a creamer. All the pieces fit on a serving tray.
The tea set is just right to serve tea and sandwiches to friends. Kids have fun pretending to pour tea into the cups and placing the cups on the saucers. The cups and saucers then get delivered to the recipient with graceful ease – at least that’s the way it was during our test session.
Little girls love to have tea parties and invite their friends to their tea parties. Boys like to join in the fun, too! It provides chiming sound effects as the tea is magically being poured. In some households, this is the ideal toy to practice the ability to pour tea and presenting good manners to guests. For others, it’s just plain fun.
This Fisher-Price kitchen tea set needs two button-cell alkaline batteries that are replaceable (LR44 or equivalent will work). The batteries are included. Press the lid of the teapot to hear a tea-time song, “I’m a Little Teapot.” This is a classic favorite. The toy is composed of sturdy plastic – it just looks like beautiful ceramic. The toy is, in fact, very durable, for which Fisher-Price has a reputation.

This tea set is recommended for ages 2 years to 5 years, although anyone can enjoy having an imaginary cup of tea from a set as lovely as this. This is a great toy for children to share, and if there doesn’t happen to be any children ready for tea at precisely the right moment, a teddy bear, stuffed dog, and a duck can do quite nicely as tea guests.
Little girls and boys love taking turns pouring the tea into cups and making up stories about their day to tell each other. Many parents at our staff’s toy testing session exclaimed that this tea set was just right for a two-year old and one that was durable enough to actually be able to use. Of course, water can be substituted for tea. The teapot holds just the right amount to fill four cups.
It has cups, saucers, and spoons that are easily managed by little hands. Parents liked the fact that children seemed to be able to handle the serving tray easily and all the pieces fit on it nicely. Fisher-Price is known for its quality toys and parents felt sure that this toy would last for years.
If the cups are filled with actual liquid, there is enough to drink but not enough to warrant a major disaster should a spill take place. And, according to staff reports from the testing session, spills will take place. However, with supervision, it can be a lot of fun for the children. Some parents say this play kitchen tea set would even work for real juice and snacks. Our staff tried putting a couple sets in the dishwasher after the testing session concluded, and they came out unscathed.
