General

The KidKraft Pastel Baking Set is a must have for all the little bakers you know. Whether it is for your own kids, grandkids, nieces or nephews, they will have so much fun mixing up their batter or rolling out the dough for all the pies, cakes, and cookies their little imaginations can stir up. This set will go just perfectly with the any of the pastel play kitchens that KidKraft makes. After they’re done mixing up their sweet and delectable treats, they can throw them into their play oven and watch them bake. Even if they don’t have an actual playset, their little imaginative minds will figure out a way to make one up. Just leave it to the kids to figure out what can double as an oven for their pretend baking. Throw in some play food from the line of KidKraft toys, and your kids should be very happy bakers. Best of all, you don’t have to worry about them making a mess every time they want to bake.

The KidKraft Pastel Baking Set comes with everything that you probably use to bake in your kitchen. The mixer is so adorable and realistic that we could hardly believe it. It is made from wood, as is everything else in the set, and functions pretty much like a real one. The mixing blades don’t turn because there is no batteries needed for this set, and we say hallelujah to that. This is a nice safety feature for little fingers and hands that might be tempted to lick the batter with the thing is running. However, they can lift the blades in and out of the bowl that comes with this. This is a great little feature, which makes this very much like the real thing. We think it is really nice that all of the items are made from wood instead of plastic. As a result, they should last much longer. The wooden spoon, spatula, and rolling pin will probably be put through some pretty rugged treatment, but they should survive pretty well. Even though this is wooden, it has a coated finish that is very smooth, so you don’t have to worry about splinters. The two chocolate chip cookies look almost good enough to eat, and the cookie sheet adds the finishing touch for any play kitchen.

We think the KidKraft Pastel Baking Set is a great idea that will add even more fun to kids’sets. We especially like that the mixer blades lift up and down but do not rotate. We always examine everything very closely for any safety concerns. We really try to come from a kid’s perspective of how they might use or abuse this, which really brings up the next point we would like everyone to consider. While we like that all of this is wooden for durability, we are a bit concerned about the damage kids might inflict on one another with the utensils. Our biggest concern is the rolling pin followed by the spoon. These are pretty light weight, but if they are used as weapons in self defense, they might hurt quite a bit. Of course, you could say the same thing about many of the other things involving kids’ play.
