KidKraft

This cute play kitchen is a reminder of the olden days just like you would find in the Little House on the Prairie. The KidKraft Prairie Kitchen takes the cake (pardon the pun) when it comes to originality. The style of this gives it a unique flair and some great pizzazz that would compliment any bedroom or playroom. Some of the sets we have seen are really bright and colorful and could easily clash with some décor. This one has very soft colors and has some really nice sculpting at the top and bottom. It even has some little hearts cut out at the top. We call this one simply but elegantly designed. It will really fit a child that has a taste for style and also likes to play house and pretend cook. When we say a child, we really mean a girl because this is probably a little too dainty for a boy.

The KidKraft Kitchen gives a child the opportunity to be really imaginative and stay entertained for hours. With a few play kitchen toys, kids can come up with a great many possibilities for cooking on their stove or baking in the oven and cleaning up the dishes in the cute little sink that has a faucet. The faucet has little knobs that let them turn the “water” on and off. There is even a paper towel holder, so they can be sure to wipe up their messes. If you keep missing paper towels, you will know where to look. The stove has burners that almost look like the real thing, and it also has a grill that we thought was a nice little fun feature. They have gone to great lengths to make this look as authentic as possible. Play kitchens are so much fun for kids, and the more authentic looking the better. There are some really cheap looking ones on the market that are made of plastic and are definitely not worth the money. There is no comparison between the plastic ones and the sturdy, wooden, and very real looking KidKraft Prairie Kitchen.

We like the idea behind it as far as the design and prairie theme. As stated before, it is very simple but elegantly done. With that being said, it may be too simply done as far as what it comes with. There are a lot of these sets on the market, and the majority of them come with a refrigerator/freezer and a microwave for basically around the same price as this. If space is an issue, then this might be your best bet. In our opinion, the refrigerator and microwave make it a lot more enjoyable and realistic. This is certainly something to consider if you are on the fence on what is the best option to buy for your child. You could probably find a refrigerator or microwave to add later, although they may not match. If you really only want a stove and sink, then this is certainly a good choice. Your child will still be entertained with the KidKraft kitchen. It is just that it somewhat limits the possibilities of what they can do with it.  However, it does make assembling it a bit easier than the bigger set, but you should still allow about an hour an half to put this together.
