If you have a little girl in your family, she is going to love this KidKraft Pink Retro Kitchen. She may not appreciate the retro look, but she should definitely be excited by its pink color. She will also be excited by all the cool things that come with this set. She is going to love playing “mommy” with all of her new appliances, or she will learn to be a master chef and run her own restaurant. Whatever the case, her imagination will soar with her very own KidKraft kitchen. She can cook and clean up her dirty dishes and store her leftovers in her pink refrigerator. Of course, she will have to have some play kitchen toys to make this a dream come true. They are just no fun without some play food and play dishes, unless you plan to let her borrow some of yours. However, the play food will make a lot less mess, and don’t forget to add some pots and pans to go along with this.
The playset comes with three appliances plus a storage cabinet. It has a stove/oven combination with a sink in one unit, and a refrigerator/freezer that is separate. One of the great things about the play kitchen sets is that they don’t require batteries, there is nothing to plug in, and they aren’t noisy. Of course, the kids may be little chatter boxes while they pretend play, and the pots and pans may get clinked and banged around once in awhile, but this beats all of the annoying sounds that you find built into other toys. The only thing that makes a little noise on this is the clicking sound when the knobs are turned, and a buzzer that really isn’t very loud. Both of these features make it more interesting and fun because it is just like the real thing. The pull out draws and shelves just add even more realism to the whole experience. There is so much to do with this set that it should keep your little one busy and entertained with imaginative play for quite some time.
We like the fact that the KidKraft Pink Retro Kitchen is a pretty pink color for little girls. Of course, this leaves little boys out, unless they wouldn’t mind having a pink kitchen. However, KidKraft has other lines of this type of product with different colors. The retro look is pretty cool, as well. They have really stuck with the retro theme because it doesn’t come with a microwave like some of their other ones. We like that the refrigerator is separate from the stove and sink. This gives you a little more flexibility as far as finding a place for this. The size of this raises a little concern because it seems a bit on the small side. This is okay if your child is fairly small, but they may out grow it pretty quickly. The refrigerator is less than three foot tall. We also think this is a little pricey compared to other ones we have reviewed. We have seen this as high as $200, but if you are a bargain shopper, you can probably find it cheaper. Like most of KidKraft’s products, the KidKraft Pink Retro Kitchen is built from very sturdy wood that is meant to last.
